    Date: 2017-08-21 Hour: 11:43

Two important research grants have been awarded to Dr. Liad Uziel, of the Department of Psychology.

The Israel Science Foundation awarded NIS 632,400 for Dr. Uziel's research on "The self-reduction effect: Understanding neurotic individuals’ experience in public social contexts".

The second grant, of $150,000, was awarded by the US-Israel Binational Science Foundation for his investigation with two US researchers of the implications of the desire to exert more self-control.

Dr. Uziel, from the social-organizational track in the Department of Psychology, focuses on several areas of research, including: interpersonal differences in social behavior, personality and emotions, self-control and more.

In his most recent study, published in the scientific journal Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Uziel and colleague showed that, ironically, wanting to have more self-control could actually be an obstacle to achieving it.
