Why study Physics?
The study of Physics teaches us how nature, the world we live in and how the universe works. The Department of Physics offers study tracks for B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics, alongside a Biophysics Program, aimed to satisfy the market's growing demand for expert scientists with a multidisciplinary life sciences specialty. Our Biophysics Program was designed and based on new biophysical, biotechnological, medical, environmental and other scientific applications.

Why study Physics at Bar-Ilan?
Because the Department of Physics at Bar-Ilan University is constantly evolving, developing new study Programs according to new scientific developments, recruiting young and upcoming scientists, and constructing advanced research labs; because we offer a variety of multidisciplinary research projects, positioned at the forefront of international scientific research; and because Bar-Ilan's Physics Department was a key founder of the Bar-Ilan Institute of Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials, in which scientists and students perform their experiments and researches.

Because of the direct participation in research projects
Students of the Physics Department begin to take part in scientific research as early as their sophomore year as undergraduates. We teach the foundations of knowledge and different approaches of the three main natural sciences: Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences.

Because of our curriculum's flexibility

Study tracks at the Department of Physics were specifically designed to adapt to each student's personal choice of courses and specialty. Students who wish to major in Physics, Chemistry or Life Sciences can choose from our elective courses offering. The Biophysics study Program includes introductory courses in all three disciplines, as well as courses merging the knowledge acquired from each discipline.

Because of the fast track to advanced degrees
Graduates of the Physics Department can choose to continue their studies for advanced degrees in Biophysics, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, and a variety of different Natural Sciences Programs.

Because of the teaching diploma and learning atmosphere
The learning environment at Bar-Ilan's Department of Physics is open and dynamic, giving great emphasis to the "open door" policy. Graduates of the Department go on to assume key positions in academia and industry. The Department also offers a science teachers' training Program, which can be completed during the fourth year of the degree, at the end of which graduates are awarded a teacher's diploma.

Because of Israel's leading Institute of Nanotechnology
Having been one of the main founders of the new Bar-Ilan Institute of Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials, the Department of Physics initiated a Program for recruiting excelling young researchers of experimental physics. These researchers will join the Department's staff as senior lecturers after having completed their post doctorate dissertations.
