Archaeology & Land of Israel Studies

Why choose Land of Israel Studies and Archaeology?
"A people not aware of its past, has a meager present and an unclear future", said Yigal Alon, Commander of the Palmach (Elite Unit of the Haganah) and later a Member of Knesset and a Minister in the Israeli Government.  This is true for any people, but even more so for the Jewish people. An extensive and comprehensive knowledge with Israel's geography, history and culture, is a vital asset for any Israeli or Jew who wishes to fully grasp his or her national and ethnic identity.

An academic degree in Land of Israel Studies and Archaeology provides students with an enriched background, and prepares them for a career of research, teaching and/or instruction in high school, colleges, field schools, and universities, as well as guidance and instruction of travelers of all ages, both local and foreign, a profession increasingly in demand. Another career option for Department graduates is archaeological dig experts.
